Known to be a people of passion, one can definitely expect an equally eclectic cuisine from the Brazilians. Consisting of many different types of grilled meat and vegetables, their food is as wholesome as its people. Pioneers of introducing this cuisine into our island, Brazil Churrascaria is one such restaurant in Singapore that strives to exude that same energy and successfully retained its unique character gracefully over the past 11 years.
From the abundance of original Brazilian oil paintings that accessorizes the cheery yellow walls to the bright yellow plates on the table, this restaurant sure emanates strong hints of the characteristic Brazilian vibrancy. Meat lovers will do well to savour the 15 different cuts of meat and indulge in the large circular salad bar that serves up traditional dishes like the feijoada and hearts of Palm. Casual yet lively, get set to embark on a unique dining experience of tantalizing Brazilian fare in the heart of Sixth Avenue.
*The Meats Served steaming hot from the grill by the friendly Brazilian Passadors, each of the 15 cuts of meat was skillfully carved onto our plates still dripping with its natural juices. With a selection of meats like the familiar pork sausage and ham, lamb and ribs, there were also more unusual cuts of the beef hump and topside, as well as grilled chicken hearts.
I was thoroughly pleased by the attention paid to the texture of the meat, with every cut having the right succulence and tastes. I particularly liked the medium rare beef topside that was still slightly pink on the inside with lightly browned edges, and the juicy beef tenderloin that had just the right texture with a subtle hint of natural sweetness. Also, the chicken liver and rum side held excellent undertones from the spices that it was marinated in. On the whole, I would commend the Passadors for their expertise in serving us all the meat that has just the right tastes and aromas that one would expect from an authentic Brazilian cuisine.
*The People With five experienced chefs brought in specially from Brazil, I am pleased to say that my great expectations were met. Chatty and always ready to share their Brazilian hospitality with anyone who is interested, I was treated to not only the food but also the language and culture. Also, my experience was further enhanced by the smartly dressed waitresses that were always ready to serve with friendly smiles on their faces.
*The Drinks Everyone knows that a proper Brazilian party cannot take place without a good assortment of wines and the famous Brazilian caipirinhas. Be prepared to be treated to an extensive variety of wines originating all the way from Australia, Chile, Spain, France, South Africa, Italy and many more. For those who incline towards something stronger than the usual cocktail, you must try the caipirinha which is a concoction of the cachaca (Sugarcane Rum), with your choice of either lemon, lime or strawberry. However, not being a fan of strong alcohol, I found this drink too strong for my liking.
All in all, I found the food here to be wholesome, and left me feeling satisfied at the end of my meal. With a healthy mix of salads, potatoes and Brazilian delicacies, coupled with a wide variety of quality meats, this restaurant is able to please even the most fussy of taste buds. A note of caution: Go easy on the servings of meat and you will enjoy your meal as much as I did!
